I recognize that visitors to this site may be concerned about the information provided and how that information is treated. This Privacy Policy addresses those concerns. This policy may be changed or updated from time to time. If you have any questions about the Privacy Policy, you can contact me at the above address.
Policy
I use my best efforts to respect and protect the privacy of on-line visitors. I will not share your information or e-mail address with third parties without your permission, except as follows. Your information is provided with the knowledge that the main purpose of the site is for Lexington High School alumni to reestablish contact with former classmates through the sharing of contact information you provide. Your information may be shared with any LHS Alumni for the purpose of organizing a reunion. I can not be responsible for further dissemination by those individuals.
Is My Information Secure?
Yes. At least as secure as password protection can make it. However, you should never provide any information to this site or over the Internet that you would not want someone else to know. This site uses a password to secure the directories containing alumni information (i.e., name, address, phone number, email address, etc.). That password is changed from time to time. However, it should be noted that all individuals submitting an "Information Form" to this site are provided with the same username and password that allows access to all site information. No attempt to verify information submitted is made.
Remember the Risks Whenever You Use the Internet
You should know that when you voluntarily disclose personal information to the public on any web site, including this one, that information can be collected and used by others and may result in unsolicited messages from other people. While I will do my best to protect your personal information, I cannot be responsible for information that you choose to publicly disclose. Further, you are solely responsible for maintaining the secrecy of any passwords or other account information.
Correcting and Updating Your Private Information
The information that you provide may be stored by this site for an indefinite time. However, please feel free to request a change or deletion of this information at any time by sending an e-mail to the above address.
How Are "Cookies" Used?
Visitors should be aware that non-personal information and data may be automatically collected by the web site through the use of "cookies." "Cookies" are small text files a web site can use to recognize repeat visitors, facilitate the visitor's ongoing access to and use of the site, and allow a site to track usage behavior and compile aggregate data that will allow content improvements. Cookies are not programs that come onto a visitor's system and damage files. Generally, cookies work by assigning a unique number to the visitor that has no meaning outside the assigning site. If a visitor does not want information collected through the use of cookies, there is a simple procedure in most browsers that allows the visitor to deny or accept the cookie feature. This site uses "cookie" technology only to obtain non-personal information from its online visitors in order to improve visitors' online experience and facilitate their visit within the site.
Usage Tracking
Some information about you is automatically collected via server logs. This information can include your IP address, browser type, domain names, access times, and referring URLs. This information is used to administer the Web site, help diagnose problems with the server, and to help identify you as a unique visitor to the site and to gather broad information about your site usage. However, in tracking these usage patterns, I do not match this information with a specific user's personally identifiable information.
Children's Privacy
The Children's Online Privacy Protection Act stipulates that Web site operators cannot knowingly collect information from children under age 13 without verifiable parental permission. This site respects the privacy of children, and does not seek children's participation in services that require registration. I strongly recommend that parents supervise their children's use of the Internet. I also encourage parents to instruct their children not to give out personal information in e-mail messages or forums.
